Extreme Heat and Mill Operations

Why we modify our hours of operation when it’s extremely hot.

Our marketing team told us to put a picture of a hot worker here, and this is what we found. You’re welcome.

When temperatures soar too high, you’ll see that we often modify our hours of operations. When this happens, we post it on our website, using the announcement bar at the top. We also let you know when we’re making arrangements for your order pick up.

We always cite employee health and safety as the reason behind the closures. For those who wonder if we might just be a bit sensitive to heat, here’s the full story: The mill operations generate a lot of heat and we're in a metal building. The work is physical, and it’s far too easy to become overheated. Of course, our pellet mill keeps things extra toasty — and it’s sensitive to extreme temperature variations. So, as much as we hate to mess with our normal operations, starting early and closing early is the safest bet for employees…. and it avoids stress on the equipment, which avoids breakdowns.

We appreciate your flexibility and understanding when we make this call!
