Sustainable fish meal? Yes!

Our fish meal makes the most of resources, sustainably and naturally.

Knowing our place in the larger world is important to Union Point Custom Feeds; Sustainability is more than a buzz word for us. We want to know we’re helping you raise healthy animals with minimum impact on the planet.

Our fish meal makes use of the parts of the fish that would otherwise be wasted. Bones, organs and heads are great nutrition, but humans are happy to skip them!

Because our customers share this ethic, we are sometimes asked about the use of fish meal in some of our feeds. The primary concern is whether the use of fish meal reduces fish stocks. It’s a logical question and we’re happy to put concerns to rest: Absolutely not. Here’s why: we source fish meal that is made with the leftovers from processing fish for human consumption. Most fish is processed into fillets. Our fish meal puts bones, organs and heads to good and efficient use, letting us add protein, calcium, phosphorus and other minerals that your animals need.

Best of all, all the fish we use is produced in the Northwest, from the waters of Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. It’s never farmed fish but fish that have lived free to eat whatever the sea offers. It is even processed in the Northwest, providing jobs. It is naturally preserved using OMRI-approved mixed tocopherols and rosemary extract, not ethoxyquin.
